The NRO waited for the CF to return all his legally issued TR books and LS books to confirm or refute if the fish was legally sold and declared on the TR receipts and transported legally on a LS. On November 17, 2014, the CF returned all issued TR and LS books. There was no TR or LS issued for sale of any fish to any address in Winnipeg, Manitoba. NRO attended the residence of the fish buyer on November 21, 2014 and spoke to him about any fish sales from the CF. The fish buyer admitted to buying 120 pounds of pickerel at $6 a pound for a total of $720, He described the CF, the truck he drove, as it was same make and colour as the truck the fish buyer owned. The fish buyer stated that the CF did not issue a receipt for the fish. He stated the CF delivered the fish to his residence in 3 cardboard boxes. He showed the NRO his phone call display and NRO confirmed that the phone display showed, the CF’s phone number on the fish buyer’s call display. The fish buyer surrendered 28 pounds of one pound, freezer wrapped walleye to NRO. The CF was issued two Offence Notices for transporting fish without a legal LS and selling fish without issuing a legal TR.
He pled guilty to both counts and was assessed the set fine for a total of $ 1,347.30. The surrendered fish was forfeited to crown.
