| Description: |
On November 2, 2004 officers from the
Hodgson, Riverton and Gypsumville
Districts conducted a night patrol in
the area of Red Rose near Hodgson, MB.
Officers were on ATVs as the information
and evidence gathered from earlier
investigations showed the illegal
activity was being conducted by ATV.
It was a clear night with a cool
Southerly wind and a temperature of
approximately 1 degree Celcius.
At approximately 1:15am November 3,
2004, a rifle shot was heard near the
officers' location. Minutes later an
ATV was heard. A little while later,
the officers observed lights searching
fields and heading towards their location.
At approximately 1:50am the suspects
drove within 20 yards of the concealed
officers. Shortly thereafter, the
officers approached the suspects and
effected the arrest.
All items including the ATV, a loaded
rifle, a freshly killed deer, knives,
spot light and bullets were seized as
evidence.
STEVENSON, Troy of Peguis, MB was
charged with hunting vertebrate animal
at night with lights, hunting from a
vehicle, having a loaded firearm on a
vehicle, hunting from a Provincial road
and hunting on private land without
permission. He pled guilty to hunting
at night with lights, hunting from a
vehicle and having a loaded firearm on a
vehicle. The latter two charges were
stayed. He was given a fine totalling
$1200 and all seizures were forfeited to
the Crown.
GUDMUNDSON, Dustin of Selkirk, MB was
charged with hunting vertebrate animal
at night with lights. He pled guilty to
the charge and was fined $502 |
