Wasting edible parts of big game animal |
| |
| Description: |
Roblin Natural Resource Officers
received complaints from members of
the public of several white-tailed
deer that had been left in the bush in
the Duck Mountains. The carcasses
found were whole and only their heads
cut-off. Witness statements including
some from non-resident hunters led
officers to an outfitter operating out
of San Clara.
An earlier taxidermy inspection showed
deer antlers with a license number
that matched a partial tag found in
the bush. A search warrant was
obtained and numerous white-tail deer
racks were seized. A warned statement
was then obtained from the outfitter
who was subsequently charged with two
counts for wasting edible parts of big
game animal. The outfitter, William
FRIESEN of San Clara, Manitoba pleaded
guilty and was fined $1060.00. Both
his hunting and guiding privileges
were suspended for two years. Some
items were forfeited but the other
racks were returned to their rightful
owners.
