| Description: |
Officers conducting deer hunting
compliance patrols had occasion to
inspect a dark coloured pick up truck
well after legal shooting time.
Officers activated their patrol
vehicle emergency lights but the
subject vehicle did not stop for
approximately one mile.
The approaching officer observed fresh
blood on the subject vehicle rear
bumper. In the box of the vehicle was
a freshly killed white tail deer.
The driver of the vehicle provided
identification, hunting licence and
game tag; all from his wallet.
The tag was not notched as to date of
kill and was not attached to a rear
leg of the dead deer.
Wayne PALAHITSKI of Winnipeg was
subsequently charged under General
Hunting Regulations.
Wayne PALAHITSKI pled guilty with an
explanation and received a fine of
$180 instead of the $360 specified
penalty.
The deer was forfeited to the Crown. |
