| Description: |
Selkirk officers conducted a
recreational fishery check stop near
the Red River. One of the vehicles
inspected was occupied by two male
subjects. In a cooler in their boat
was a combination of 6
walleye/sauger. The subjects stated
that they had no more fish.
They gave consent to search and 3
other (large) walleyes were found
hidden in a storage compartment.
Marcelino SANJUAN of Winnipeg was
charged with the 3 violations listed.
One of the walleyes was 29 inches in
length which required a signature and
date of capture on the back of
SANJUAN's angling licence. He had
kept more than one walleye over 22
inches and was over his possession
quota. He was assessed the specified
penalty of $414. All fish were
forfeited to the Crown.
SANJUAN has a previous conviction for
keeping more than 1 walleye over 22
inches, dating back to 1999. He
received a $62 fine for that offence. |
