Fail to immediately kill a crippled migratory game bird |

Officers conducting a waterfowl hunting
compliance patrol within the Oak Hammock
Managed Hunting area observed a party of
3 hunters. Upon approaching the party,
the Officers observed a crippled Canada
Goose laying on the trail approximately
50 meters from the hunters' blind.
Another crippled Canada Goose was
observed flopping around in the hunters'
decoy spread. A 3rd crippled Canada
Goose was found approximately 100 meters
away from the blind. Edwin SHOWALTER of
Ontario was charged along with two male
subjects from the United States. The
Americans pleaded guilty in the late
fall of 2008. SHOWALTER pleaded guilty
in November of 2009. He was fined $340
and suspended from hunting migratory
game birds in Canada for one year. |
