| Description: |
Complaints had been received from the
public that persons were catching and
retaining over their limits of sauger
from the Red River at Lockport.
Selkirk Resource Officers conducted a
mid night surveillance of the east bank
of the Red River at Lockport. Officers
observed 3 anglers catching and
retaining saugers.
At one point, a male subject removed 17
saugers to a vehicle parked in a
neighbouring parking lot. In his
absence, the other two subjects
continued fishing. The 3rd subject then
rejoined the activity.
It became obvious to the officers that
these subjects were not going to stop
catching and retaining saugers therefore
the officers decided to intervene.
Another 22 saugers had been kept.
Apprehended for possession of more fish
than the possession quota were Zhirong
YANG, Yang ZHAO and Fei LIU of Winnipeg.
They were assessed penalties of $327
each. All fish (39) were forfeited to
the Crown. |
